Lollipop is OUT.. and those having a Moto G are eagerly awaiting the OTA updates to reach their mobiles. Motorola had announced that Moto G - Both the 2013 and 2014 versions will be getting an upgrade. All those Motorola fans who have run out of patience - Read Ahead!!!


Google has released an OTA update for GPE (Google Play Edition) of Moto G. Believe me, it works just as fine on the other versions of Moto G as well. The link to download the firmware is provided below. Download the firmware, Flash it (steps and video provided) and enjoy the Lollipop!!!

1)        Download Android 5.0.1 update from Google for Moto G 2013 GPE HERE

2)        Save the file to the internal memory of your Moto G.

3)        Ensure that you have backed up all your data and the battery is at least 50% charged

4)        Power off the phone and restart into recovery. 

5)        For this, 

a)        Press Volume Up, Volume Down and Power keys together for about 5 seconds and then release. The recovery screen will be shown.

b)        Press the Volume Down key to highlight the Recovery option and then select it by pressing the Volume Up key. The Motorola Logo will appear on the screen

c)         Press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons, then press and release the Power button while keeping the other buttons pressed.

d)        Moto G will now be booted in stock recovery mode and display "Android System Recovery" at the top of the screen.

6)        Press Volume Down key to highlight "Apply Update From SD Card"

7)        Press Power button to choose the selected option. The screen now shows the contents of the internal memory of your Moto G.

8)        Navigate to the downloaded update file using the Volume Up/Down keys and select the file using the power button.

9)        You will be asked to confirm whether to go ahead with the update. The update will take about 5 minutes

10)      Reboot and Voila!!! enjoy the Lollipop on your Moto G!
